Community Remembers Peter James Hafiz, “King of Clubs”

Peter James Hafiz, known affectionately as the “King of Clubs,” passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, in Woodbury, Minnesota. His impact on the community through his successful bars, nightclubs, and real estate ventures made him a beloved figure who brought people together in celebration and connection.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Hafiz pursued studies in architecture before joining the family business. His entrepreneurial spirit and unique vision led him to transform early opportunities into a remarkable legacy in the hospitality industry. Over the years, he established numerous successful establishments, earning him widespread recognition and affection from patrons and colleagues alike.

Hafiz is preceded in death by his father, James Hafiz; his father-in-law, William Ziton; and his cherished dog, Breezy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Catherine Hafiz; his daughter, Madison (Malik) Al-Khatib; and his grandson, Zane. He also leaves behind his son, Anthony, along with his family; his mother, Eleanor; his siblings, Richard (Brenda), Leslie, and Stewart (Tiffany); and his mother-in-law, Miki Ziton. Additionally, he is survived by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and hundreds of friends who regarded him as family.

Services to Honor a Community Leader

A traditional Orthodox Service honoring Hafiz’s faith and heritage will take place at 11:00 AM on December 2 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, located at 1250 Oakdale Ave., West St. Paul. Visitations are scheduled for December 1 from 16:00 to 20:00 and on the day of the service from 10:00 to 11:00 at the church. Following the service, a private family burial will occur.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. This gesture reflects Hafiz’s commitment to his community and his faith, which were central to his life.

Peter James Hafiz’s legacy as a community leader, entrepreneur, and family man will endure in the hearts of those he touched. His unwavering dedication to creating spaces where people could gather and celebrate will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. May his memory be eternal.
