Born on October 27, 1928, in San Francisco, he was the youngest of seven children born to John and Vula Pantages. Peter is remembered for his warmth, dedication to family, and contributions to his community.
Throughout his life, Peter remained closely connected to his family. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Catherine Pantages, and their four daughters: Pamela (with husband Monte), Lisa, Jennifer (with husband Ray), and Maria (with husband Sal). The family extends to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom shared in the joy of many festive gatherings, including Greek Easter picnics and Christmas celebrations filled with good food and music.
Peter’s life was marked by service and commitment. He served as a radio and transmissions specialist in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. After returning home, he met Catherine in 1956, and the couple settled in Corte Madera, where they raised their daughters.
Peter’s presence in the neighborhood was significant. Known for hosting lively celebrations on the 4th of July and New Year’s Eve, he was the go-to person for repairs, always equipped with the necessary parts. His professional journey included working as an employee and later co-owner of Park Presidio Radio-TV, a family business established with his brothers Ted and Gregory. Peter became known for his ability to fix televisions and radios, often tackling repairs that others deemed impossible.
In addition to his professional life, Peter enjoyed spending time outdoors. He cherished summers camping with family and friends along the Middle Fork of the Yuba River, where memories were made under the stars. In retirement, Peter and Catherine embraced travel, embarking on numerous cruises and exploring Europe, as well as visiting Greece, the homeland of his parents.
Peter John Pantages leaves behind not only a legacy of family and service but also countless memories cherished by those who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his laughter, kindness, and the vibrant gatherings that brought together family and friends throughout his life.
