BREAKING: Brian M. Hayes, a cherished community figure and business owner, has tragically passed away at the age of 68. He died on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Reading Hospital, leaving a profound impact on both his family and the Berks County community.
Hayes, a lifelong resident of Reiffton, was the devoted husband of Linda A. (Natale) Hayes, with whom he celebrated an incredible 46 years of marriage. His passing has left friends and family in mourning, as they remember his commitment to service and support for others.
Born in Erie, PA, Hayes was the son of the late Clarke H. and Ruth (Burns) Hayes. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School and went on to establish Brian M. Hayes & Associates Inc., an insurance and investment firm he ran for nearly five decades. He was a well-known figure in the local business community, earning respect and admiration for his dedication and expertise.
An avid golfer, Hayes frequently played at notable clubs such as Moselem Springs, Mulligan’s Pointe, and Mid South Country Clubs. His passion for sports extended to baseball, where he owned and operated the Exeter Cardinals Baseball Club from 1993 to 2020, significantly contributing to Berks County Amateur Baseball. He was also a past president of The Reading Association of Life Underwriters and a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table.
Hayes is survived by his loving wife Linda and their children: Brian M. Hayes II, Brent Hayes, and Brooke Majano, wife of Jose. His legacy continues through his granddaughter Avery and his granddog Mahomes. Additionally, he is remembered by his brothers, James Hayes, husband of Colleen, and Bruce Hayes, husband of Jo, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Mark Hayes.
A visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the American Heart Association.
