Community Mourns the Loss of Alfred Carbone, 92, Woburn Firefighter

Alfred V. “Al” Carbone, a beloved figure in the Woburn community, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at the age of ninety-two. Originally from East Boston, Carbone spent much of his life in Woburn, where he made significant contributions as both a firefighter and a photographer.

A Life of Service and Creativity

Born to the late Vincent M. Carbone and Antonietta M. Capone, Al was raised in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School. His love for the outdoors began at a young age, particularly through his passion for hunting. Alongside this, he developed a keen interest in photography, which would play a vital role throughout his personal and professional life.

Before embarking on a career in public service, Carbone served honorably in the United States Army and the Merchant Marines. This experience instilled in him a deep sense of pride and commitment to his community. He dedicated many years to serving as a firefighter for the City of Woburn, where he was known for his courage and reliability.

In addition to his firefighting career, Carbone worked as a photographer for the Woburn Daily Times, capturing countless moments that reflected the vibrant life of his cherished city. His inventive spirit and creativity were evident in both his work and personal interests.

Family and Legacy

Al leaves behind a loving family, including his son Alan Carbone and his wife Jeanne of Salem, NH; Daniel Carbone and his wife Marianne of Danvers; and Brian Carbone of Salem, NH. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Lynne Carbone. His siblings included Janet Carbone of Maine and the late Peter Carbone and Vincent Carbone.

In addition to his immediate family, Al is survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. Known for his quiet warmth and integrity, Carbone will be remembered for his love of family, his creative talents, and his unwavering commitment to public service.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Charles Church located at 280 Main Street, Woburn, on December 6, 2025, at 11:30 a.m.. Burial will take place at Woodbrook Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours before the Mass from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, located at 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801.

Carbone’s legacy of service and dedication will continue to inspire those who knew him, as he leaves behind a community enriched by his life and work.
