UPDATE: The new Kia Seltos has just been unveiled in South Korea, showcasing significant upgrades and a hybrid option aimed at enhancing its appeal as it prepares for a U.S. launch in 2026. With a starting price projected at $23,690, Kia is set to capture a larger market share among small SUVs.
The revamped Seltos boasts increased dimensions, making it 1.8 inches longer and featuring a 2.4-inch longer wheelbase. Kia aims to inject some of the Telluride magic into this subcompact SUV, expanding its lineup with new trim levels including the sporty GT-Line and rugged X-Line. The automaker expects to sell 430,000 units annually, reflecting its commitment to growth in the competitive SUV market.
Kia’s new design echoes the style of its more expensive models, such as the Telluride and the upcoming EV9, with a broad grille and stylish running lights. The vehicle also incorporates a host of modern technology, including a ChatGPT-powered AI virtual assistant, available for navigation and other functions, and a 12-inch head-up display.
The hybrid version will be a first for the Seltos, though it will launch later in 2026. While specifics on U.S. engine offerings are yet to be confirmed, the Seltos will feature three gasoline engines producing between 149 and 193 horsepower, along with various transmission options.
Kia has conducted surveys indicating a strong demand for improved passenger space and advanced features. As a response, the new Seltos will include more connectivity, safety features, and enhanced comfort, with spacious interiors designed to accommodate growing family needs.
Kia plans to manufacture the new Seltos in India, South Korea, and China, marking its first entry into the European market. As the small SUV segment continues to thrive, the new Seltos is poised to compete against rivals such as the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Honda HR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross.
Stay tuned for more updates on pricing and fuel economy as Kia gears up for sales in 2026. The anticipation is building as the Seltos aims to redefine affordability and capability in the subcompact SUV market.
