The community of Chico is in mourning following the death of Barbara “Bobbie” Wright, who passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Red Bluff on November 12, 1934, Wright was a beloved figure known for her humor, compassion, and community involvement.

Bobbie Wright grew up in Chico, attending local elementary schools before graduating from Chico High in 1952. During her high school years, she participated in stick hockey, showcasing a competitive spirit that would define her life. In her youth, Bobbie also showed Irish setters, worked at the Starlight Drive-In Theater, and served as a soda jerk at Gaske’s Ice Cream Parlor, activities that reflected her vibrant personality and deep connections to the local community.

Throughout her career, Bobbie held various positions, most notably as an office clerk at North State Hulling, where she dedicated 33 seasons of her life, earning the respect and appreciation of many almond growers. Her work ethic extended beyond her professional life; she also contributed significantly to her community. Bobbie received a life member award from Jay Partridge PTA for her exceptional work in organizing a Girl Scout troop for girls with mental disabilities. Her commitment to advocacy continued as she served as vice president of Butte County ARC, a role she embraced following the birth of her son, David Bennett, who has Down Syndrome.

Bobbie’s community contributions did not stop there. She was an active blood donor, amassing an impressive total of 10 gallons throughout her life. Known for her outgoing personality, she was someone who “never met a stranger.” Her love for animals, a collection of frogs, and her fondness for inexpensive wine added to her unique character.

She is survived by her daughter, Liz Bennett, and sons David and Denny Bennett, along with stepdaughters Cindi Moore, Michelle Harris, and Lori Lawrence. Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon, daughter Toni, son Larry, sister Dolores, and ex-husband Earl.

A celebration of Bobbie Wright’s life is scheduled for January 17th at 11:00 at the Chico Eagles Hall, providing an opportunity for friends and family to honor her memory and reflect on the impact she had on many lives.
