The administration of US President Donald Trump has launched a new initiative called the US Tech Force, aiming to recruit 1,000 employees over the next two years. According to the official website, the Tech Force will fill positions across various government agencies, including roles for software engineers, data scientists, project managers, and AI specialists. Participants will work on significant technology initiatives, focusing on areas such as AI implementation, application development, data modernization, and digital service delivery across federal entities.
Collaborative Effort with Private Sector
The initiative represents a collaborative effort involving at least 28 technology companies, including prominent names like Apple, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and OpenAI. These partnerships will allow the government to tap into the expertise and innovation of the private sector. The programme also permits these companies to nominate their employees for temporary government positions, fostering an exchange of talent between public service and the tech industry.
The US Office of Personnel Management oversees the programme, working alongside federal agencies such as the US Department of War, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Treasury. Potential candidates have the opportunity to transition into permanent roles within government agencies or return to their companies after completing their two-year commitments.

Compensation for positions within the Tech Force varies based on experience and agency assignments, with annual salaries projected to range from $150,000 to $200,000, in addition to benefits. This competitive pay structure aims to attract top talent in a highly competitive job market.
