Belding Superintendent Brent Noskey Achieves 99% Rating in Evaluation

UPDATE: Belding Area Schools Superintendent Brent Noskey has just received an exceptional 99% rating in his annual evaluation, confirming his continued effectiveness in leading the district. This evaluation was accepted unanimously by the school board during a meeting held on October 23, 2023.

Noskey, who has served as superintendent for a decade, has been recognized for his outstanding performance across multiple categories, including governance, community relations, and instructional leadership. The school board rated him with a final weighted score of 2.98 out of 3, equating to an impressive 99% effective rating.

Board President Terry Boni praised Noskey’s contributions, stating, “We found Mr. Noskey just as effective as he was before. He did really well.” The unanimous vote reflects the board’s confidence in Noskey’s leadership and ability to foster strong community ties.

Noskey achieved the maximum score of 3 in four out of five categories, earning a 2.86 in staff relations. His consistent performance has garnered high ratings throughout his tenure, with Boni noting that he has not received an evaluation score below 92% in the past ten years.

“His relationship with the staff has really shined,” Boni added, emphasizing Noskey’s capability in hiring the right people and maintaining a positive culture within the district. The board’s collaborative relationship with Noskey has also played a crucial role in supporting the district’s growth.

In response to his positive evaluation, Noskey expressed gratitude for the support he receives from both the board and his administrative team. “I’m obviously pleased with the evaluation,” he stated. “I could not do this job without my administrative team, and almost all of them have been with me all 10 years that I’ve been here.” His leadership is characterized by a strong focus on community engagement, as he is frequently seen at local events, fostering a sense of unity.

Having transitioned the district from its former nickname to the current Black Knights, Noskey has adeptly managed challenges such as a decline in district-wide enrollment—from 1,875 students in the 2016-2017 school year to 1,652 students in the 2024-2025 academic year—while maintaining a stable financial standing with a general fund balance of 15% to 20% of annual expenditures.

Noskey’s base salary remains at $157,725, with no changes to his contract following this evaluation. He has consistently highlighted the unique culture of Belding, stating, “There’s something special about Belding. We’re small enough to live a family atmosphere on a day-to-day basis.”

As the district looks forward, all eyes will be on Noskey’s continued leadership and the impact of his initiatives on students and staff alike. The school board’s confidence in his abilities sets an optimistic tone for the future of Belding Area Schools.
