Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, a cherished matriarch and devoted family member, passed away at the age of 104, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born in Los Angeles in 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel, Gloria’s life journey was marked by her strong family values and unwavering faith.
Gloria attended Fremont High School and began her professional career at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her husband, Don Ronnau. Don, who predeceased her in 2007, was a significant part of her life as they built a family together. They had four children: Donny Ronnau, who passed in 2023; Diane Ronnau, who passed in 2022; Ann Sidler (married to Derald); and Carol Randolph. Gloria was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren.
Community and Family First
A long-time resident of San Pedro, Gloria made the community her home in 1962. She dedicated two decades to the Los Angeles Unified School District, working at Banning High School and Dodson Middle School. Her commitment to education reflected her belief in the importance of nurturing young minds.
Gloria’s life revolved around her family. She was known for creating a welcoming environment where relatives and friends felt valued, nourished, and loved. Her steadfast presence served as a source of strength for many, and she was often seen as a guiding light within her family. Gloria’s faith was quietly profound; she practiced her beliefs through humility and generosity, always ready to support others without seeking recognition.
Gloria lived through a century of significant change, yet she remained steadfast in her values. Her legacy is defined not by accolades but by her devotion to family, faith, and the love that continues to impact those she left behind.
Final Farewell
Family and friends will gather to honor Gloria’s life with a Visitation scheduled for December 21, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00, featuring a Recitation of the Rosary at 16:00 at Green Hills Memorial Park, Cove Room. A funeral mass will take place the following day, December 22, 2023, at 10:00 at Holy Trinity Church, followed by a burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.
The services will provide an opportunity for those whose lives Gloria touched to celebrate her enduring influence and the love she shared throughout her life. Her family invites all who knew her to join in remembering a remarkable woman whose impact will resonate for generations to come.
