This significant milestone was achieved by Letter Carrier Melissa Perez from the Bishops Corner Branch, marking a record-breaking achievement during the busiest time of the year.
“It is an honor to deliver the 9 billionth United States Postal Service package this holiday season,” Perez stated. “This is not only an exciting personal accomplishment but a reflection of every hardworking man and woman in the Postal workforce here in Hartford and across the entire country.”
Melissa Perez has been a dedicated letter carrier for ten years, with seven years spent on her current route. “I have 356 delivery points on my route. It’s a mix of business and residential – my customers are my favorite part of West Hartford,” she shared. “It was exciting to make this milestone delivery. I love the holiday season. Our lives are so busy, and it’s so important to enjoy family. Seeing my kids open presents brings me such joy.”
The USPS continues to ramp up its efforts this holiday season, utilizing modernization initiatives that have increased its national daily processing capacity to an impressive 88 million packages per day, a notable rise from 60 million last holiday season.
