A Life Rooted in Community and Family
Born and raised in Bowdoinham, Juna had a quintessential Maine childhood, enjoying hunting and fishing with his nine siblings. His strong sense of duty led him to serve in the Army from 1954 to 1956, where he trained as a high-speed radio operator and was stationed in Germany. After his military service, Juna returned to his hometown, where a chance encounter at a local dance sparked a lifelong bond with Janet and her twin sister Joyce.
The couples became close friends, sharing decades of experiences, raising families, and nurturing a deep connection filled with humor and affection. Juna’s work life included stints at the Pejepscot Paper Mill and the Bowdoinham Post Office, in addition to running a home-based television repair service.
A Passion for Golf and Humor
In his 40s, Juna discovered a love for golf, which became a lifelong passion. He often played at the Brunswick Golf Club, even continuing to tee off until November 2025. Known for his vibrant personality, Juna was a social butterfly, often the life of gatherings and celebrations. His playful nature earned him a reputation as a troublemaker, delighting in the gullibility of friends and family, and filling their lives with laughter.
Family and friends have shared heartfelt memories since his passing, recounting stories filled with humor and joy. Celebrations of his life will be planned for the warmer months, in keeping with Juna’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to his favored charities: the Wounded Warriors Project and the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. Additionally, donations may be directed to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, which provided invaluable support during his final days.
