BREAKING: Robert E. Schneider, an esteemed member of the Reading community, has passed away at the age of 80. He died on December 18, 2023, while residing at Laureldale Nursing Home, leaving behind a legacy of service and family.
Schneider, a proud veteran of the United States Army, served from September 1965 to January 1966. He was the widower of Carol Endy Schneider and is remembered for his dedication to family and friends. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Alice Oswald Schneider.
A graduate of Reading High School and later West Chester University, Schneider had a notable career as a truck and cab driver for over 40 years, retiring in 2003. He is survived by his son, Robert C. Schneider, stepson Chad Endy, stepdaughter Kathleen Byerly, and several grandchildren, including Zachary Schneider and Haley Hughes. His family also includes step-granddaughter Keira Endy and great-grandchildren Matteo, Isabella, and Lucas. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Ralph Schneider.
A visitation service will take place on Saturday, December 27, 2023, from 11 AM to 12 Noon at Henninger Funeral Home, located at 229 North 5th Street, Reading, PA. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society to honor Schneider’s memory.
