A man from Tioga County, Pennsylvania, has received a prison sentence of eight to 20 years for the sexual assault of a child he was trusted by, according to Attorney General Dave Sunday. Philip McCormick, 39, from Blossburg, pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a minor under 16, unlawful contact with a minor, and aggravated indecent assault of a person under 16.
The abuse reportedly began when the victim was just 13 years old and continued for approximately two years. Authorities indicated that McCormick, who had a close relationship with the child, exploited this trust to gain access to her. The situation came to light when the victim disclosed the abuse to her mother, prompting an investigation.
