Pamela Ann Erbeck, a dedicated educator and esteemed volleyball coach, passed away on November 20, 2025, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 80 years old. Erbeck’s vibrant legacy is marked by her commitment to physical education and her profound impact on countless students and athletes throughout her career.
A Life of Achievement and Adventure
Born on May 2, 1945, Pamela led a life filled with travel, sports, and cherished moments with family and friends. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, followed by a Master’s degree in Sports from California State University, Long Beach. Over a span of more than 25 years, she served as a teacher at Inglewood High School, where she taught Physical Education, Mathematics, and Spanish.
As a passionate volleyball coach, Erbeck made a significant mark on the school’s athletic program. Under her leadership, the girls’ volleyball team achieved multiple championships, recognized by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Her dedication to coaching not only fostered athletic success but also inspired a sense of community and teamwork among her athletes.
A Lasting Legacy and Fond Memories
Even after retiring, Erbeck’s adventurous spirit remained strong. She traveled extensively across the United States with friends, creating lasting memories and embracing new experiences. Her zest for life was infectious, and she was known for her joyful demeanor that touched everyone she encountered.
Pamela is survived by her sister, Linda Herbert; niece, Laurel Tennant; nephew, Mark Herbert; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom she cherished deeply. Her lifelong friend, Kathleen Behen, also remembers her as a source of support and inspiration.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Pamela’s life during a memorial service at Lighthouse Memorials, Rice Center, located in Torrance, California. The service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Erbeck will be fondly remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her dedication to her students and athletes, and her vibrant spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
