Downtown Kannapolis is celebrating love and community spirit with its inaugural Cupid Kannapolis event, running from February 7 to 15, 2024. This initiative aims to promote local businesses by offering a range of Valentine-themed shopping and dining deals throughout the city center.
Former Downtown Kannapolis president and employee at Falls Jewelers, Caleb Falls, played a pivotal role in organizing this promotional event. “We are trying to get the city more involved in coordinated events and rally the business troops together,” he stated. The Cupid Kannapolis event highlights various specials designed to attract both locals and visitors.
Valentine’s Specials and Sweet Treats
A variety of restaurants in the area are participating in the event. West Loop Local is offering a champagne and charcuterie deal for just $16 on February 13. Meanwhile, Towel City Tavern has crafted a romantic dinner for two priced at $90, which includes an appetizer, two entrees, a dessert, and a bottle of wine.
For those with a sweet tooth, Eat Cakes bakery features an array of Valentine’s treats, including chocolate-covered strawberries and heart-shaped cakes. Local boutiques such as Sweetest Beginnings and Once in a Blue Moon are also joining the festivities with enticing offers. Customers at Sweetest Beginnings can scratch off conversation hearts for discounts, while Once in a Blue Moon is promoting a buy-one-get-one half-off deal on all mixed metal earrings.
In a delightful twist, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are providing a 15 percent discount on all red merchandise purchased in their store. Even pets are included in the celebrations, as Carolina Groom Room will offer complimentary Valentine bows and bandanas for dogs groomed between February 7 and 15.
Community Engagement and Events
Beyond product offers, several businesses are creating experiences for customers. SoFul West Avenue is providing a free class to first-time visitors accompanied by a member through February 15. Additionally, Falls Jewelers is stepping outside its usual offerings by giving a complimentary 30-minute massage with purchases over $300, and a date night at Towel City Tavern for purchases exceeding $600.
Falls emphasized the importance of these collaborative business events, stating, “It’s a huge help when we have a business that we want to participate and coordinate with.” To further enrich the community experience, several events are scheduled for the week leading up to Valentine’s Day. A Galentine’s Shop Hop on February 7 will feature local vendors along Main Street from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., alongside cocktail tastings and complimentary chair massages at Southern Collective.
On February 14, West Loop Local will host a DJ from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. to celebrate the holiday. Meanwhile, the Swanee Theatre will feature The Swinging Medallions on February 13 at 8:00 p.m. and is giving away two free tickets through its social media channels.
Falls noted that following the recent winter weather, this Cupid Kannapolis event holds even greater significance for supporting local businesses. “It’s a big group for sure,” he remarked. “When one person succeeds, we all succeed.” This event not only fosters community engagement but also highlights the importance of local commerce during the Valentine’s season.
