HUTTO — Casey Walraven has been appointed as the new head football coach at Hutto High School, bringing with him an impressive record of 15 years in head coaching roles. His extensive experience includes four successful seasons at Alvarado High School, where he transformed the program into one of Texas’ elite 4A teams. The announcement follows the departure of former head coach Eli Reinhart, who left after one season to take the position of offensive coordinator at Grand Valley State.
“I am incredibly excited for this opportunity to join Hippo Nation,” Walraven expressed. “First, I want to thank Ms. Jeni Neatherlin and Coach Will Compton for putting their trust in me to lead the next era of Hutto Football. This program is full of potential, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together at the highest level of Texas high school football.”
Walraven’s Track Record of Success
During his tenure at Alvarado, Walraven’s teams achieved remarkable success, averaging an impressive 62.4 points per game in 2025. He posted a record of 25-2 over his last two seasons, advancing to the State Quarterfinals in consecutive years and achieving undefeated regular seasons—a feat not accomplished at the school since 1994-95, when Walraven himself played as the team’s quarterback.
“Coach Walraven is a seasoned veteran of the Texas coaching ranks with a strong history of building winning programs,” stated Jeni Neatherlin, Superintendent of Hutto Independent School District. “I am confident his commitment to excellence will continue our momentum on the football field and throughout our athletic programs, as well as in the classroom and in the community. We’re excited to welcome him to Hippo Nation.”
Will Compton, Hutto ISD Athletic Director, added, “His history of turning programs into state contenders while developing high-character student-athletes is exactly what we want for Hippo Nation.”
Looking Ahead to the Upcoming Season
Walraven’s coaching career began in 2002 at Kennedale High School. He has also led teams at Cleburne from 2017 to 2021 and Grandview High School from 2012 to 2016, driving them toward playoff success. He takes over a Hutto program that concluded last season with a commendable 9-3 overall record and a share of the district championship.
With Walraven’s offensive expertise and the returning talent at Hutto, the community can anticipate an exciting football season next fall. The combination of his proven leadership and the players’ skills sets the stage for a promising future for Hutto football.
