The construction of the first Twistee Treat in The Villages is making significant progress, with the distinctive soft-serve ice cream cone structure now taking shape at Pinellas Plaza. Located on the north side of Burnsed Boulevard, this new facility is expected to be a popular destination for local residents eager for sweet treats.
Construction Milestones and Features
Recent images from the site reveal that the recognizable cone structure stands firmly in place, marking a key milestone in the development process. Following a site plan recommendation from Special Magistrate Lindsay C.T. Holt in late 2025, construction crews have swiftly transformed the half-acre site into what will soon be a bustling ice cream venue.
The new Twistee Treat facility, covering approximately 583 square feet, is nearing completion, with teams focusing on the final exterior touches and the surrounding infrastructure. This location will feature an outdoor patio with tables and benches, perfect for enjoying ice cream in the sunshine. To accommodate the high traffic along the County Road 466A corridor, a dedicated drive-through lane and 17 parking spaces have been included in the design.
Menu and Corporate Expansion
This corporate-owned outlet marks an important expansion for the Orlando-based company, which was established over 42 years ago and has grown to include more than 23 locations across Florida. The opening of this new venue will provide a more accessible option for residents, who currently travel to the nearest location in Tavares.
The menu at Twistee Treat is diverse, featuring classic soft-serve cones, cups, and unique offerings such as waffle tacos and brownie boat cups. Although an exact opening date has yet to be announced, there are expectations that the facility will start serving sundaes and shakes later this year. Among the specialties are the cookiewich, brownie boat cup, and a variety of shakes, malts, and sprinkle-covered sundaes.
Originally founded in North Fort Myers, Twistee Treat underwent a significant transformation in 2010 when Twistee Treat USA, LLC acquired the rights and patents for the brand. This shift allowed the company to streamline operations, leading to the establishment of all subsequent locations as corporate-owned entities.
As this exciting new venue approaches completion, the local community awaits its grand opening, which promises to bring a delightful new ice cream option to The Villages. Residents and visitors alike will soon have the chance to enjoy the nostalgic and beloved flavors of Twistee Treat.
