Hillary Clinton Criticizes GOP After 6-Hour Epstein Deposition

UPDATE: Hillary Clinton emerged from a six-hour deposition on October 24, 2023, sharply criticizing the GOP and their decision to conduct the hearing behind closed doors, denying the public a chance to hear her testimony. Speaking to reporters in Chappaqua, New York, Clinton expressed frustration after answering questions that she described as “repetitively, literally over and over again.”

Clinton stated, “They had a chance to do it in public, and I wish they had done it in public. I think they’re making the wrong decision, avoiding doing it in public.” She also indicated she would not participate in a public session if one were scheduled later.

The questioning took an unexpected turn towards the end, with Clinton revealing, “It then got quite unusual because I started being asked about UFOs and a series of questions about Pizzagate, one of the most vile, bogus conspiracy theories that was propagated on the internet.” Despite her critiques, she acknowledged the efforts of committee chairman James Comer, praising the substantive nature of some inquiries. “I want to see the truth come out,” she added, reflecting on the lengthy deposition.

Clinton reiterated her lack of connection to Epstein, stating she knew Ghislaine Maxwell only as an acquaintance. When asked about Maxwell’s attendance at her daughter Chelsea Clinton’s wedding, she clarified that Maxwell was merely a “plus-one of someone invited.”

Comer described the deposition as “productive,” but noted dissatisfaction among Republicans. “The number of times that she said, ‘I don’t know, you’ll have to ask my husband,’ was more than a dozen,” he said.

Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled for his own closed-door deposition next, which Comer suggests will be longer. Notably, neither Clinton has been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein or Maxwell, although Bill Clinton’s prior relationship with Epstein has drawn scrutiny. Hillary Clinton stated that their relationship “ended years, several years, before anything about Epstein’s criminal activities came to light.”

Tensions flared during the deposition when Rep. Lauren Boebert allegedly shared a photo from inside the room, leading to disruptions. Clinton described the initial moments as challenging due to a violation of agreed rules, emphasizing that “one of the members violated that rule, which was very upsetting.”

The testimony began around 11 a.m. and concluded shortly after 5 p.m., setting the stage for the next phase of the committee’s investigation as Bill Clinton prepares for questioning. This ongoing inquiry into Epstein’s connections is expected to draw significant public interest, with the implications of the findings likely to resonate across the political landscape.
