Beloved Family Man and Community Leader Anthony Arcone Passes Away

Anthony G. Arcone, a dedicated family man and community leader, passed away on February 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer that lasted three years. He was born on March 11, 1973, in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Meriden, New Hampshire. Arcone’s early accomplishments in academics and sports, particularly soccer and skiing, earned him an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

In 1996, Arcone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Haverford-Bryn Mawr College. Following his education, he began a career in energy trading before transitioning to information technology, where he most recently worked at Amazon Web Services. His professional journey reflected a commitment to excellence and innovation.

A Life Built on Family and Adventure

Anthony met his wife, Amanda Arcone, while working in the Washington, D.C., area. The couple married in 2002 in Meriden, New Hampshire, and together they raised four children: Max Ashburn Whitaker, Samuel Miller Whitaker, Brooke Frances Whitaker, and Benjamin Ashburn Whitaker. In 2017, the family moved to Franconia, New Hampshire, where they embraced the natural beauty of the region.

Family was central to Anthony’s life. He was a devoted partner to Amanda and a loving son to his mother, Penelope Hills Arcone, and father, Steven Anthony Arcone. He cherished the role of a “step-up” parent, exemplifying the independence and accountability he instilled in his children. His daily rituals, including enjoying coffee while reading the Wall Street Journal, were a cherished part of family life.

Anthony’s passions extended beyond family; he was an avid adventurer. His love for nature was evident in his hobbies, which included motorcycling across New England, kayaking, hiking in the mountains of New Hampshire and Virginia, and skiing in both New Hampshire and Colorado. Just four days before his passing, he participated in a skiing event at Bretton Woods, where he shared his love of the sport with disabled athletes.

A Lasting Legacy and Celebration of Life

Anthony’s legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He is survived by Amanda, their four children, his mother Penelope, father Steven and his partner Marianne Peters, and his brother, Alexandre Arcone. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, and friends who admired his spirit and dedication.

A celebration of Anthony’s life will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 14:00 at the Franconia Inn, located at 1172 Easton Road, Franconia, NH 03580. The family invites those who wish to honor his memory to contribute to New England Disabled Sports, a charity to which Anthony devoted many years as a ski instructor.
