Frances Marrs, aged 77, passed away peacefully at her home in McKinleyville on February 16, 2026. Born on July 1, 1948, in Victoria, Texas, she was the daughter of Lois Allien Grace and James Murdock Daggs. Frances spent her early years in Fairhaven on the Samoa Peninsula, where she was raised in a nurturing environment alongside three brothers and one sister.
Growing up, Frances enjoyed a close bond with her sister, Betty. They shared countless joyful moments playing on sand dunes and constructing imaginative structures from wooden blocks that their father provided for the fireplace. Their childhood was filled with adventures, including cooking stew from their garden vegetables and crafting pretend blackberry wine from berries they picked.
Frances was known for her warmth and compassion. From a young age, she was a source of support and love for everyone around her. Notably, she shared her daughter, Tina, with her sister, creating a familial bond that exemplified her spirit of generosity. Throughout her life, Frances embraced the role of caregiver, raising many children alongside her own, and welcoming numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren into her family.
Her nurturing nature extended to her fondness for bedtime routines, where she would rock children to sleep or lie beside them to listen to the soothing sounds of frogs. Frances cherished her time outdoors, whether she was tending to her garden, basking in the sun while watching her grandchildren play, or hunting for treasures at yard sales.
An avid animal lover, Frances treated her pets as beloved family members. In her later years, she developed a passion for crafting and sewing, sharing her skills and knowledge with many children and friends who crossed her path.
Frances is remembered not only for her immediate family but also for the extensive network of relatives and friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, her parents, and her daughter. The family acknowledges the enduring support of her best friend, Kathy, who provided love and companionship throughout their long friendship.
The family would also like to express their gratitude to Ayres Crematorium for their compassionate assistance during this difficult time. Frances Marrs leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love, which will resonate within the hearts of all who knew her.
