Layton Police Seek Suspect After Shocking Dog-Walking Assault at Gas Station
Law enforcement officials in Layton, Utah, are actively searching for a man caught on surveillance video attacking a dog-walker in an unprovoked assault outside a Chevron gas station. The incident happened in the evening hours of April 28 near the intersection of Hill Field Road and Antelope Drive, rattling the usually quiet neighborhood.
Lieutenant Clint Bobrowski with the Layton Police Department confirmed that the victim, who was walking his two dogs, was approached by an unknown man who was “upset” and started screaming. The victim attempted to back away, but the suspect suddenly charged at him and even tried to kick one of the dogs.

The surveillance footage reveals the man in a green hoodie running up to the victim, leading to a physical confrontation. The suspect punched the victim while the victim’s dog bit the attacker in self-defense. Police said the victim produced a knife at some point, which was then knocked out of his hands and stolen by the suspect before he fled towards the nearby Quail Cove Apartments.
“There is assault against both the victim and his dog as well as theft of the knife,” Lieutenant Bobrowski stated. He emphasized that such unprovoked incidents are rare in Layton and reassured the public there is no ongoing threat: “This seems to be an isolated event.”
