UPDATE: The Utah Mammoth continue their fierce momentum, securing their sixth consecutive victory by defeating the Minnesota Wild 6-2 in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday night. Star player Logan Cooley made headlines yet again, scoring two goals within the first 3:29 of the game, solidifying his status as a rising star.
Just 56 seconds into the first period, Cooley executed a stunning backhand shot, sending the puck flying past Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson to establish an early 1-0 lead. The former University of Minnesota standout then capitalized on a power play, netting his second goal at the 3:29 mark, taking full advantage of a slashing penalty against Minnesota’s Yakov Trenin.
The Mammoth surged to a commanding 3-0 lead less than two minutes later when Nick Schmaltz scored his sixth goal of the season just shy of the five-minute mark.
However, the Wild’s Marcus Johansson refused to let his team go down easily. He scored two crucial goals, bringing Minnesota back into contention.
