URGENT UPDATE: A serial slasher is on the loose in Brooklyn following three unprovoked attacks within just 24 hours. The NYPD is actively searching for the suspect, who has targeted innocent victims on subway trains and city streets, leaving them with serious injuries.
The latest incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on October 21, 2023, when the attacker slashed a 37-year-old man on the left side of the face aboard a Manhattan-bound Q train at the Church Ave. subway stop in Flatbush. The victim managed to alert police after exiting the train, while the suspect continued to ride until the next stop.
In a chilling escalation, the attacker struck again later that evening. Around 9:40 p.m., he slashed a 53-year-old man near the intersection of Foster and New York Avenues, approximately a mile and a half from the original attack. Then, just 12 hours later, at about 6:55 a.m. on October 22, he targeted a 56-year-old man near Newkirk Ave. and New York Avenues, using the same modus operandi of approaching from behind and slashing the left side of his victim’s face.
All three victims were rushed to Kings County Hospital and are currently in stable condition. The NYPD has intensified their search efforts across several blocks in Flatbush as they work to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Authorities describe the assailant as wearing a navy blue jacket, black shorts, and white sneakers. In a bid to gather leads, police have released a surveillance image of the suspect and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
These disturbing incidents come on the heels of another violent subway attack, where a man was stabbed during an argument on a D train in Manhattan on October 16, 2023. The assailant, Justice Jackson, was arrested and remains in custody.
