CU Buffs’ Arden Walker Urges Team to Recover Before Arizona Game

UPDATE: Arden Walker, a senior defensive end for the CU Buffs, is rallying his teammates for a crucial matchup against Arizona this Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 5 p.m. at Folsom Field. After a devastating 53-7 loss to Utah, Walker emphasizes the urgency of securing three more wins to achieve bowl eligibility.

“We’ve got to get to six wins, really,” Walker stated, underscoring the importance of the upcoming game. As the Buffs (3-5, 1-4 Big 12) prepare to face Arizona (4-3, 1-3), Walker is determined to turn the page on last week’s performance and lead his team back to victory.

Walker, a graduate of Cherry Creek High School, is not only focused on the team’s immediate goals but also on enhancing his prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft. “I’m really looking forward to just making the best efforts to help the team and get us to where we want to, get to a bowl game and then improve my draft stock,” he said.

Following the loss to Utah, the Buffs find themselves in a challenging position. However, Walker and head coach Deion Sanders stress the importance of resilience. “We’ve got to respond,” Walker insisted, aiming to bounce back from the humbling defeat.

The Buffs managed a significant upset earlier this month against then-No. 22 Iowa State, indicating their potential to recover. Walker believes that a strong finish to the season can lead to improved exposure for both the team and individual players. “If I do my part and make sure that we get the wins that we need to, I feel like it’s completely where I need to be,” he noted.

With just a few games left in his college career, Walker is eager to maximize his impact on the field. Despite missing a game earlier this season due to injury, he has recorded 32 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks through seven games. “The production side, I got to continue just to keep stepping up,” he remarked, emphasizing his commitment to improvement.

As the Buffs gear up for this pivotal game against Arizona, fans are eager to see if Walker and his teammates can execute a turnaround. The stakes are high—not just for bowl eligibility but also for individual futures. Walker’s leadership will be crucial as the Buffs aim for victory this Saturday.
