Saugus Plans Urgent Veterans Day Events to Honor Heroes

UPDATE: Saugus is gearing up for a series of urgent events to honor its veterans as Veterans Day approaches. The town has announced a Veterans Day tribute and luncheon at the Senior Center on November 10, starting at 11 a.m., featuring a delicious pot pie luncheon from Harrows Chicken Pies.

Capt. Stephen Castinetti, U.S. Navy (retired) and commander of the Saugus Veterans Council, will serve as the master of ceremonies. This heartfelt event will also showcase patriotic songs performed by the center’s Sing-a-Long Group, led by pianist Tony Sarno. Following the program, attendees can enjoy a dessert table sponsored by Andrew Firman from Benefits Advisors Group. Tickets are priced at just $6, and advance registration is required.

In addition, the Daughters of the American Revolution Parson Roby Chapter is preparing to honor veterans with a stunning display. Each year, the chapter decorates the Town Hall lawn, creating a moving Field of Flags that pays tribute to those who served.

On November 11, the town will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at 1 Central St. Before the ceremony, car enthusiasts will gather for a Rolling Rally organized by Guy Moley’s car show team. Participants will meet at the Senior Center at 10 a.m. and cruise past the Veterans Memorial before arriving at Town Hall.

The ceremony will bring together veterans, town officials, and community members to pay tribute to U.S. Armed Forces heroes. Attendees can expect remarks from community leaders, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, and a moment of silence to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

These events represent a significant opportunity for the Saugus community to come together and express gratitude to its veterans. As the dates approach, residents are encouraged to participate in these meaningful tributes, ensuring that the sacrifices of those who served are honored and remembered.

This is a developing story with immediate relevance to all community members. Stay tuned for more updates as Saugus prepares to honor its heroes this Veterans Day.
