Remembering Tricia Marcello: A Life of Laughter and Service

Tricia Marcello, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 79 in Manhattan Beach, California. Born Tricia Taw on September 13, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, she was the middle child of Richard and Mary Taw. Her early years were spent in Inglewood and Culver City, where she cherished summers in Ely, Nevada, with her extended family.

Marcello began her career as a ticket agent for American Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). In this role, she developed a keen ability to read people and solve complex problems, skills that would serve her well in her later career in television production. She worked on various projects, from movies-of-the-week to live shows such as *Circus of the Stars*. Her passion for the creative arts, particularly music, was evident throughout her life, as she was rarely seen without a book in hand.

In 1984, Tricia met her husband, John Marcello, through mutual friends. Together, they built a life in Manhattan Beach over 41 years of marriage. The couple welcomed their daughter, Molly, into the world, enriching their lives with new parenting experiences. Tricia became involved in local public education, serving as the PTA president and volunteering with community organizations such as Sandpipers.

A Generous Spirit and Creative Soul

Marcello was known for her generosity and hospitality, creating a welcoming home for friends and family. Her large extended family often gathered at her beach house, enjoying her homemade dinners and famous biscotti. A friend affectionately referred to her as the “innkeeper of the Marcello B&B,” highlighting her nurturing spirit.

Tricia’s unique style blended bohemian and vintage steampunk elements, reflecting her vibrant personality. She had a remarkable ability to connect with others, often acting as a confidant for those in need. Her friends and family appreciated her quick wit and love for dry humor, which provided comfort during challenging times.

In the past decade, Tricia faced numerous health challenges, including surgeries related to rheumatoid arthritis and genetic heart issues. Despite these difficulties, she approached her treatment with unwavering positivity, drawing strength from her Catholic faith and trust in her medical team. Her resilience shone through even in the toughest moments, and she often lightened the mood with her insightful and humorous comments.

Community Remembrance

Tricia Marcello’s impact on her community and family will be felt for years to come. As those who knew her grapple with the loss, they remember her as a loving mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend. The sentiment of loss is palpable, but as her loved ones noted, “All the limoncello in the world could never erase the pain of losing her. But, as she would say, it certainly helps.”

A funeral mass will be held at American Martyrs Catholic Church on November 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception at O’Donnell Hall. Friends and family are invited to gather in honor of Tricia’s life and legacy, celebrating the joy she brought to those around her.
