Bobby’s Ice, formerly known as Billy’s Ice, is preparing to open its doors at a new location in New Braunfels, Texas. Owner Bob Wilson announced the transformation on the establishment’s Facebook page, sparking a mix of nostalgia and excitement among the venue’s loyal patrons. The new address, 6390 FM 1102, will continue the legacy of live music and a relaxed atmosphere that has defined the space since its inception.
The journey of what was once known as Billy’s Ice began in 2008 when Bill Sisoian envisioned a friendly bar serving cold beverages. The concept quickly evolved into a beloved local venue, where friends gathered to enjoy live music and good food. Over the years, Billy’s Ice became a cornerstone of the community, contributing thousands of dollars to various charitable causes, from supporting cancer patients to aiding veterans in need.
Reflecting on the change, Wilson stated, “It’s been one hell of a run, but it’s time for a change.” He expressed his desire to respectfully retire the Billy’s name while ushering in a new era with Bobby’s Ice. The previous location at 1193 Loop 337 closed in early October, coinciding with the sale of the property.
New Location, New Offerings
Upon discovering the new site, previously occupied by Lazy J Cajun, Wilson felt an immediate connection. “I was driving home from church when I saw the venue and said, ‘Mmm, that would make a good place for a live music venue,’” he shared. This moment of inspiration led him to secure the property, paving the way for the next chapter of the establishment.
Bobby’s Ice will feature a fresh menu aimed at families, with an opening time set for 11:00 AM to cater to lunch crowds. The eatery will offer a range of bar food items, including hot dogs, in a family-friendly environment. As evening approaches, the venue will shift into a lively bar atmosphere, where guests can enjoy live music and drinks with friends.
Wilson is currently overseeing construction on the new venue, but the timeline for opening has faced delays due to pending permits from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Initially aimed for an October launch, Wilson now anticipates that Bobby’s Ice will open by mid to late November 2023.
