West Fargo Seeks New HR Director After Recent Resignation

URGENT UPDATE: The city of West Fargo is actively seeking a new Human Resources Director following the resignation of Sarah Gasevic earlier this month. Gasevic’s resignation was accepted on November 4, 2025, leaving a crucial leadership gap in the department that manages the city’s largest expense—its workforce.

City Administrator Dustin Scott confirmed that the HR Director position has been posted and that there has been significant interest, with several applications already received in just over a week. “We’re excited to see strong interest in the position and aim to fill this role promptly to ensure no disruption in HR services,” Scott stated.

Gasevic, who was hired in August 2023, brought a wealth of experience from her previous roles at the University of Mary and Village Service Centers. During her tenure, she conducted a staff salary study for 2024, confirming that most salaries were aligned with regional standards. Earlier this year, she also assisted the West Fargo Park District with HR policies, demonstrating her commitment to enhancing human resources across the city.

The city has faced significant turnover in leadership, with seven department heads, including former HR Director Jenna Wilm, departing within months. This trend raises concerns about stability within the city’s management.

To mitigate any potential disruption, Senior Director of Administrative Services Rick Lee will oversee the human resources department until a new director is appointed. Applications for the HR Director position will be accepted until December 15, 2025, with plans for interviews scheduled after the holidays. The projected annual salary for the new director ranges from $119,171 to $131,088, reflecting the importance of this role.

As West Fargo seeks to stabilize its leadership team, the urgency for a qualified HR director remains critical to support the city’s staff—its most valuable asset. The community is keenly watching as the city aims to fill this pivotal role by the first quarter of 2026.
