UPDATE: The annual holiday tree decorating event in Bethlehem is underway today, November 21, 2025, bringing festive cheer to local third graders. Bethlehem Mayor J. William Reynolds is leading the event, which features students from Freemansburg Elementary School and Miller Heights Elementary School decorating the city’s Christmas tree with personalized ornaments.
The excitement is palpable as children collaborate with local police officers, including Officer William Rodriguez, to hang their ornaments. The event, organized in partnership with the Cops ‘n’ Kids Children’s Literacy Program of the Lehigh Valley, aims to foster community spirit and literacy among young children.
Students are not only decorating but also enjoying a variety of holiday activities, including festive songs performed by the Liberty High School Caroling Band. The atmosphere is filled with joy as third graders sing along, creating a heartwarming scene that embodies the holiday spirit.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our kids to connect with the community and celebrate the season,” said Beverly A. Bradley, president of Cops ‘n’ Kids, as she welcomed the eager participants.
In addition to crafting ornaments, students are indulging in delicious snacks and festive treats prepared by culinary students from the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School. These young chefs are showcasing their skills with beautifully decorated cupcakes, further enhancing the holiday celebration.
As part of this annual tradition, selected third graders will have the honor of lighting the city’s holiday tree next week. The event not only serves to beautify Bethlehem but also provides children with lasting memories and the joy of giving during this special time of year.
