Amazon to Hire 1,000 Workers in Central Valley for Holiday Rush

Amazon has announced plans to hire over 1,000 seasonal workers in California’s Central Valley as part of a larger initiative to fill 250,000 roles across the United States ahead of the holiday season. This hiring spree includes nearly 30,000 positions in California, with the FAT 1 facility in Fresno seeking to fill 800 seasonal roles and the FAT 2 facility in Visalia looking to hire just over 450 individuals.

The seasonal positions at Amazon offer competitive pay and flexible work schedules, along with the potential for many of these roles to transition into full-time employment. New hires will have access to a range of benefits starting on their first day, including health care, pre-paid tuition, a 401(k) savings match, and paid parental leave.

Significant Economic Contributions

According to Amazon’s recently released 2025 Economic Impact Report, the company has invested more than $1.5 trillion in the U.S., with $218 billion of that funding directed toward California. This has significantly contributed to local economic growth, resulting in an estimated $221 billion added to California’s GDP.

In the state alone, Amazon employs over 154,000 full-time and part-time workers, which supports an additional 147,000 indirect jobs. The company’s investments in data centers have created thousands of skilled positions and career pathways nationwide. Between 2011 and 2024, Amazon’s data center investments have totaled more than $5 billion, resulting in approximately 1,800 jobs in California.

Opportunities for Job Seekers

David Koneck, general manager of Amazon’s SBD6 Fulfillment Center in Ontario, California, emphasized the value of these seasonal roles. “Our seasonal roles provide a fantastic opportunity for people seeking additional income during the holidays while gaining valuable experience at Amazon,” he stated.

As the holiday season approaches, Amazon’s hiring initiative aims to meet the increased demand for its services and support local economies through job creation. With a focus on flexibility and growth potential, the company is poised to attract a diverse workforce ready to contribute during this busy time of year.
