A tribute to the legendary Frank Sinatra will take center stage at the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple on November 23, 2024. The show, titled The Rat Pack: Christmas in Vegas, features acclaimed performer David Alacey, who has garnered praise for his uncanny resemblance to the iconic crooner.
Alacey, who has previously impersonated Sinatra on programs such as Strictly Come Dancing and the 2004 Royal Variety Concert, aims to evoke the spirit of the Golden Age of Christmas television. His performance promises a nostalgic journey back to the festive seasons celebrated by stars like Andy Williams and Perry Como. Notably, jazz legend Buddy Greco remarked on Alacey’s talent, stating, “As for David Alacey – well this guy really is Sinatra! It’s frightening.”
The Sinatra Estate has also acknowledged Alacey’s work, noting that his rendition of the theme from “New York, New York” for Atari Games was “too close for comfort.”
In anticipation of the event, Alacey shared what audiences can expect from the evening. “We look forward to the Christmas Tour throughout the year. People can expect to take a trip back in time with classics such as ‘Let it Snow’ and ‘White Christmas.’ We want the audience to feel as though it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas,” he said.
Joining Alacey in this festive celebration are Ashley Campbell, portraying Sammy Davis Jr., and Tim Harwood as Dean Martin. Campbell is known for her roles in Coronation Street and Mamma Mia – Here We Go Again!, while Harwood has performed at the London Palladium and appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
The performance is scheduled to begin at 19:30, and tickets are currently available through the theatre’s official website at https://queenstheatre-barnstaple.com. This tribute is expected to bring joy and festive spirit to North Devon audiences, creating a memorable experience for families and music lovers alike.
