High school basketball teams across the Acadiana region showcased their talent in a series of exciting matchups on March 15, 2024. The boys’ and girls’ teams delivered thrilling performances, with several schools achieving significant victories.
Boys’ Basketball Results
In the boys’ division, Acadiana triumphed over Beau Chene with a score of 71 to 57. ESA also secured a convincing win against Delcambre, finishing 62 to 30. New Iberia demonstrated their strength by defeating JS Clark 71 to 58, while David Thibodaux edged out Catholic-BR with a 54 to 47 victory.
Other notable results included Acadiana Renaissance’s narrow win over North Vermilion, concluding at 59 to 55. Northside managed to overcome Lafayette Christian with a final score of 62 to 57. Meanwhile, Marksville emerged victorious against Marksville, 60 to 30, and Erath secured a close win against Highland Baptist, 38 to 34.
The game between Washington-Marion and North Central saw a dominant performance from Washington-Marion, who won 80 to 47. Westminster-Lafayette also celebrated a close victory over Hackberry, ending at 61 to 59. St. Thomas More defeated Jackson Academy 57 to 42, with standout performances from Ryan Robertson, who scored 22 points, and Myles Davis from Jackson Academy, contributing 10 points.
Girls’ Basketball Highlights
The girls’ matches revealed equally impressive results. Opelousas narrowly defeated New Iberia 49 to 46. Acadiana dominated St. Martinville, winning 62 to 21. Lafayette High showcased their skills against Vermilion Catholic, finishing 58 to 38. Southside secured a victory over Church Point with a score of 48 to 39.
North Vermilion also recorded a convincing win against Beau Chene, concluding the game at 48 to 20. Rayville defeated Breaux Bridge 64 to 37, and Cecilia dominated Highland Baptist with a score of 52 to 24. David Thibodaux emerged victorious against Welsh, finishing at 37 to 21.
In another thrilling matchup, Chapelle edged out St. Thomas More, winning 40 to 35, while Teurlings secured a remarkable victory over Ascension Episcopal, 41 to 6. Westgate maintained their momentum with a strong win against Highland Baptist, 66 to 27.
In Kinder, the local team achieved a 51 to 40 victory over Rayne, highlighted by A. Galloway’s impressive performance, scoring 21 points.
