KNWA’s Doug Warner and Dan Skoff achieved notable recognition at the 2025 Mid-America Emmy Awards held in St. Charles, Missouri, securing two prestigious awards within a competitive field. The station garnered a total of 13 nominations across various categories, highlighting its commitment to quality journalism.
Recognition for Exceptional Reporting
Warner received the Emmy for his work in the “Religion – News” category with his piece titled “The Good Stuff: Lifting Up Greenwood.” This segment featured the inspiring story of Kaylee, a young cross-country runner from Batesville, who chose to assist a fellow competitor from Greenwood who had collapsed just before the finish line. Warner remarked, “In her heart, she knew Jesus would never just run past someone like that. So, she wasn’t about to do the same, even if it cost her valuable time in her last high school race.”
Skoff was honored for his exceptional weather coverage, winning in the “Weathercast” category for his segment titled “Rogers Tornado Caught on Camera – November 4, 2024.” Expressing his gratitude, Skoff posted on social media that he felt “humbled and deeply honored” to receive the award, underscoring the dedication of the team at KNWA.
A Testament to Journalistic Standards
Warner emphasized the significance of the nominations, stating, “Win or lose, a news team with 13 Emmy nominations is an indication from our peers that KNWA has really stepped up its newsgathering and journalistic standards. I’m proud to be a part of this newsroom, every person in it, and what we are doing.”
The recognition at the Mid-America Emmy Awards serves not only as an accolade for the individual journalists but also reflects the overall quality and commitment to excellence at KNWA.
