The North Devon Hospice is set to host a memorable Christmas Concert at the Barnstaple Pannier Market on December 18. This free event will coincide with the final evening of late-night shopping in Barnstaple and will celebrate the conclusion of the hospice’s annual Light Up a Life appeal, which honors the memory of lost loved ones.
Starting at 18:00, a variety of local performers will take the stage, including the Holy Trinity Choir, Carry On Choir, Scuttlebutt Shanty, and Gabby Young. To enhance the festive atmosphere, a stunning light show featuring a “sky of stars” will be projected onto the market ceiling by local specialists Blackbeam Cinematic.
Georgia Bedgood, events manager at North Devon Hospice, expressed her excitement about the concert. “We hope the whole community will come along to enjoy our Christmas Concert. We have a great line-up of performers, from talented soloists to rousing choirs, who will each be putting their own unique spin on some festive favorites,” she said. Bedgood emphasized that the evening’s highlight will be the enchanting light display, which aims to create a magical experience for attendees.
The concert will also provide an opportunity for community members to indulge in seasonal food and drink available throughout the evening. As part of the Light Up a Life appeal, attendees can dedicate a star in memory of a loved one, which will be displayed on two large Christmas trees within the Pannier Market.
“The stars, each carrying the name of someone special, will be hung on the trees. It will be a beautiful sight, as we light the trees and see all those stars sparkling in memory of people we miss,” Bedgood noted. She encouraged attendees to bring their own messages to loved ones and add their stars to the display during the event.
While entry to the concert is free, donations will be collected for the hospice on the night. For further information regarding the concert or the Light Up a Life initiative, individuals can visit the North Devon Hospice website at https://www.northdevonhospice.org.uk/events.
This concert promises to be a heartwarming occasion, inviting the community to come together in remembrance and celebration during the festive season.
