Melania Trump Delivers Valentine’s Message to Troops, Omits Husband

Melania Trump made a notable appearance alongside President Donald Trump on February 14, 2024, to deliver a Valentine’s message to U.S. troops at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While the First Lady addressed military members and their families, she notably did not mention her husband in her remarks about love and patriotism.

During her speech, Melania expressed appreciation for the armed forces, stating, “To our great armed forces of the United States stationed all over the world, I have a nostalgia-filled message. Happy Valentine’s Day.” She highlighted the importance of love letters as symbols of the union between patriotism and family devotion, noting their significance over the past 250 years.

Melania emphasized the balance of love for country and family, saying, “The harmony of love of country and love of family is what makes us uniquely American. It is very balanced which strengthens our military and builds our communities.” This statement resonated with the audience, who gathered to honor service members involved in the recent capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

At the conclusion of her address, Melania introduced President Trump to the stage, saying, “And now, it is my distinct honor to introduce your Commander in Chief, our leader who maintains a mission of peace through strength, President Donald J. Trump.” As the President took the stage, he kissed Melania on the cheek, marking a rare public display of affection. However, the First Lady appeared to pull away before he leaned in for a second kiss on the other cheek.

Earlier in the week, Melania celebrated an early Valentine’s Day by visiting children and young adults at The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health, where she participated in Valentine-themed craft-making. President Trump, on the other hand, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that day, followed by his participation in a “Champion of Coal” event.

As of now, it remains unclear whether the couple has plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day together later. Following their visit to Fort Bragg, the Trumps traveled to Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s resort in Palm Beach, Florida. The President is known to spend weekends at his residence, often engaging in golfing and private meetings.

This Valentine’s Day event showcased the First Lady’s commitment to supporting the military, though her omission of President Trump during her speech raised eyebrows among observers.
