A vibrant community fundraiser took place on October 15, 2023, at Skateland Putty Hill in Baltimore, Maryland. The event, titled “Get Your Roll On,” was a collaborative effort between the Alpha Alpha Sigma Sorority Rhoer Club and the Towson-Catonsville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Attendees enjoyed a lively atmosphere filled with roller skating, games, and family-friendly activities.
Participants of all ages flocked to the roller rink for a Sunday afternoon of fun. Among the skaters were families cherishing quality time together, such as Tom McFall from Hampden and his daughter Darcy, aged 8, from Towson. They joined others gliding across the floor, showcasing their skills and enjoying the community spirit.
In addition to skating, attendees engaged in various activities, including video games and arcade games. Kharie Shropshire, a one-year-old from Moravia, enjoyed playing a video game with his grandfather, Joe Whiting. The event fostered connections, allowing families to bond over shared experiences and create lasting memories.
Celebrating Community and Fun
The “Get Your Roll On” event was designed not only for entertainment but also to support community initiatives. Keith Garner assisted his grandson, Ryder Keaton, aged 4 from Pikesville, with his skates, showcasing the intergenerational connections that the event fostered. The positive atmosphere was palpable, with laughter and excitement echoing throughout the rink.
Another highlight included Devon Elzey, a 10-year-old from Kenilworth, who won a prize from a claw machine, much to his delight. The event successfully combined fun and fundraising, allowing the organizers to promote their charitable missions while bringing the community together.
As the afternoon continued, more families arrived, eager to participate in the festivities. Damian Briscoe of Parkville was seen helping his daughter, Isis, aged 11, put on her roller skates, embodying the spirit of togetherness that characterized the event.
The roller skating fundraiser at Skateland Putty Hill highlighted the importance of community engagement and support for local initiatives. With a mixture of fun, family bonding, and charitable giving, the event exemplified how local organizations can unite to foster positive experiences for all.
