Duane Robert Weitzel, a beloved figure in his community, passed away on November 21, 2025, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Surrounded by family, Weitzel’s legacy is marked by his dedication to his family and his passion for cooking.
He is survived by his three children: Brenda Marie Moody (Greg) from Robbinsdale, Duane Donald Weitzel (also known as Erik) (Jonathan Willis) of Golden Valley, Minnesota and Auckland, New Zealand, and Chad Issac Weitzel of Crystal. Additionally, he leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were a significant part of his life.
A Life of Work and Passion
Duane Weitzel began his career at the age of 16 at South St. Paul BeeLine, with a brief interruption for a three-year service in the Navy. He dedicated the last 20 years of his professional life to owning and operating the business before retiring.
Cooking was a passion for Duane, and he enjoyed sharing this love with family and friends at the lake. His extensive collection of cookbooks reflected his culinary enthusiasm. Along with cooking, Duane found joy in hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and his loved ones. His infectious laugh and sense of humor created lasting memories for those who knew him.
Honoring His Memory
Duane Weitzel is preceded in death by his wife, Diane Marie Weitzel, and his sisters, Carole Biscoe and Sharon Euerle. The family plans to honor his memory with a celebration of life scheduled for December 7, 2025. Friends and community members are invited to gather and remember Duane’s impact on their lives and the joy he brought to many.
