Dr. Jay Kim and Dr. Daria H. Lee have joined the dental clinic at the FHP Health Center, bringing a wealth of experience in military and advanced dental care. Their appointments are expected to enhance services offered to patients, particularly military families, within the community.
Dr. Jay Kim’s Professional Background
Dr. Kim previously worked as a general dentist at Apra Harbor Dental Clinic in Santa Rita, Guam. During his tenure, he played a key role in relocating the clinic and optimizing its layout to boost dental productivity. His experience extends to serving at the Naval Base Guam Branch Dental Clinic and the Naval Branch Dental Clinic at Sewell’s Point in Norfolk, Virginia. Kim earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from Boston University, graduating magna cum laude, and has undergone training in several specialties, including endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics.
Kim’s expertise in CAD/CAM dentistry allows for efficient production of dental crowns, significantly improving service delivery. He successfully implemented the Genesis system in the dental department, ensuring a smooth transition to military electronic health records. He is licensed to practice in both Guam and Virginia and holds a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Red Cross. Notably, he achieved a dental operational readiness rate of 97% for military service members, the highest among Navy dental lieutenants.

Dr. Daria H. Lee’s Expertise
Dr. Lee has extensive experience as a Dental Officer in the US Navy, having served at USNMRTC Guam and aboard the USS Osborne. Her skills include restorative treatments, extractions, endodontics, and advanced dental procedures, which have significantly benefited military personnel and their families. Dr. Lee also served as the interim department head, where she oversaw personnel and equipment while developing Standard Operating Procedures for Infection Control.
She obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where she contributed as a floating instructor for the Explorations in Dentistry program. Her training includes specialized proficiency in CEREC/CAD/CAM technology and ceramic veneers. Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honors from Michigan State University, where she enhanced her understanding of patient behavior and communication.
Throughout her military service, Dr. Lee maintained a dental readiness rate of 99% for naval sailors and led patient safety audits. Her accolades include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2022 and the Patient Care Safety Champion Award from US Naval Hospital Guam in 2021. She is fluent in both Korean and English and holds active dental licenses in Guam and Michigan. Dr. Lee is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
