New Year’s Baby Arrives at UCHealth Greeley Hospital at 1:01 AM

A new chapter has begun for Graciela Martinez and Alejandro Regalado of Greeley as they welcomed their first child, a baby boy, just after the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Day 2026. The baby, who shares his father’s name, made his debut at 1:01 AM at UCHealth Greeley Hospital.

Martinez was celebrating her sister’s birthday at her mother’s house when she realized it was time to head to the hospital. Around 10:30 PM on New Year’s Eve, she called her husband, urging him to prepare for the arrival of their newborn. The couple was thrilled to learn they were the first to welcome a baby at the hospital in the new year.

Weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches, the newborn’s arrival was a delightful surprise for the family. “Obviously, it wasn’t planned or anything but that’s pretty cool,” Martinez said, expressing her gratitude. “Thank God, we’re actually doing really well.”

With plans to be discharged by Friday morning, the family is looking forward to returning home with their new addition. In recognition of their special milestone, Martinez and Regalado will receive a gift basket from the hospital, filled with baby clothing, blankets, and other essential items.

In 2025, UCHealth Greeley Hospital delivered a total of 730 babies, showcasing the hospital’s commitment to providing care for families in the region. As of the article’s publication, information regarding the first baby born at Banner North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley has not yet been released.

The arrival of the first baby of the year is a joyous occasion for families and the community alike, marking a hopeful beginning for all.
