ReLakes Massage Expands with New Salt Therapy Rooms in Detroit Lakes

ReLakes Professional Massage has recently expanded its offerings in Detroit Lakes, introducing both a salt float therapy tank and a salt floor therapy room. Located in the Washington Square Mall, the business, owned by Stacy Morris, now spans approximately 2,000 square feet, featuring original massage therapy rooms alongside the newly added facilities.

The team at ReLakes comprises nine massage therapists who provide a variety of treatments tailored to individual needs. Services include deep tissue, Swedish, hot stone, and sports massages, among others. According to Morris, “We customize each massage to the client,” allowing for a blend of different styles based on specific requirements. The facility also offers couples massages, enabling partners to share the experience in the same room.

The newly opened salt floor therapy room, known as halotherapy, presents a unique relaxation environment. Clients can unwind in a tranquil setting adorned with glowing Himalayan pink salt on the walls while inhaling micro-salt particles dispersed throughout the air. This therapy aims to alleviate respiratory issues by breaking down mucus and reducing inflammation, as well as improving skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis due to the salt’s antibacterial properties.

A halogenerator releases the aerosolized salt particles, which enhances the therapeutic experience. The combination of pink salt decor, soothing music, and ambient lighting cultivates a calming atmosphere. Morris emphasizes the benefits of this therapy, stating that it is particularly advantageous for individuals with respiratory concerns or skin conditions.

Moving further down the hall, clients can find the salt float therapy tank. This spacious room, measuring seven feet in height, contains 11 inches of Epsom saltwater, allowing for a shared floating experience. The float room is equipped with various lighting options, including twinkling star-like lights on the ceiling. Morris explains, “This therapy is good for people with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, or any kind of inflammation.” It provides a beneficial alternative for those who prefer not to receive hands-on treatments.

The water in the float tank is maintained at a consistent temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius (93.5 degrees Fahrenheit), creating an experience akin to floating in outer space. “You don’t have to know how to swim,” Morris assures potential clients. “Just lie back and float.” Even individuals who experience claustrophobia have found comfort in the spacious tank.

A typical float session lasts about one hour and begins with a pre-float shower. The cost of this soothing experience is $64.73. After each appointment, the water undergoes an extensive filtration process to ensure cleanliness, utilizing advanced technology that ensures the water is cleaner than standard drinking water.

Morris, originally from North Dakota, moved to Detroit Lakes with her family in November 2017. She has a background in massage therapy, having previously worked at Revive Professional Massage in Fargo, where she was mentored by Rachel Alderson, the business’s owner. In 2022, Morris acquired ReLakes from Alderson, fulfilling her long-term goal of establishing her practice in Detroit Lakes.

In addition to running her business, Morris balances family life with her husband, Scott, and their two sons, Tavin and Axel, who are both junior black belts in Taekwondo. Morris actively participates in her sons’ competitions, often traveling across the country.

ReLakes Professional Massage is hosting its first-ever open house on November 22, 2023, from 15:00 to 18:00. Morris expresses excitement about the event, stating, “It will be really nice for people to see our space and meet some of the staff.” During the open house, attendees can take advantage of Christmas gift card specials and engage in a fun promotion offering extra perks for future appointments.

The facility operates from 08:15 to around 20:30 Monday through Friday, 08:45 to 17:00 on Saturdays, and 10:00 to 15:00 or 17:00 on Sundays. Customers can conveniently book appointments through the ReLakes website, where they have the option to select a therapist and schedule a session, or by calling 218-844-8898.
