Castle Noel Launches Starlight Room Restaurant with Dazzling Show

Castle Noel, a unique holiday museum located in Medina, Ohio, has officially unveiled its new restaurant, the Starlight Room. The grand opening took place on March 15, 2024, and was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local dignitaries, including Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell. This new addition enhances the museum, which has been a festive attraction since its inception in 2013.

Owner Mark Claus, whose name aptly reflects the Christmas spirit, expressed his excitement about the restaurant, describing it as a long-cherished dream. “This is a family project, and it grows every year,” Claus shared. “The whole restaurant idea has been in my head for a long time.” Each year, he has invested in equipment to realize this vision, aiming to create a comprehensive experience for visitors that includes both entertainment and dining.

The Starlight Room features an impressive ceiling display adorned with 10,000 lights, synchronized to music that plays every 15 minutes. Claus noted, “It just adds to the magic of the whole experience.” His commitment to continually enhancing the attraction is evident, as he strives to ensure every detail contributes to the festive atmosphere.

The restaurant’s menu offers a variety of options, including burgers, paninis, and salads, with playful names that celebrate holiday themes. For instance, the “Cindy Lou Who Caprese” pays homage to the beloved character from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Additionally, a dedicated menu for children, dubbed “elves in training,” provides a family-friendly dining experience.

Visitors will find the dining area cozy and inviting, featuring tasteful holiday decorations and framed vintage magazine ads. Claus is particularly fond of the serene ambiance created by a gentle instrumental rendition of “Silent Night,” which plays softly against a backdrop of blue and white lights.

In an effort to enhance the overall visitor experience, Claus has also renovated the outdoor space, adding heated concrete near the restaurant and an outdoor stage. This area includes a nod to popular culture with the inclusion of Cousin Eddie’s motor home from the classic film “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”

Kimberly Marshall, Medina’s economic development director, commented on Claus’ consistent investment in the property since Castle Noel opened. The museum has become a staple in the community, attracting visitors who seek to embrace the joy of the holiday season.

Reflecting on the journey that led to Castle Noel, Claus recalled the day he purchased the former Methodist church that houses the museum. “That’s where our home is now,” he said emotionally, emphasizing the importance of creating lasting memories for families and visitors alike.
