This weekend, the Fort Worth Botanical Garden (FWBG) invites pet lovers to enjoy a delightful event, Dog Days, on September 30-October 1, 2023. For two full days, guests can experience the beauty of the Garden alongside their dogs during regular operating hours, from 08:00 to 18:00. Admission for humans remains standard, while an additional fee of $5 applies for each dog.
The FWBG will set up hydration stations throughout the campus to ensure that all furry participants stay refreshed. Members of FWBG, both human and canine, will receive free admission to the event. Those who are not yet members are encouraged to join to take advantage of this and other benefits.
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, the Garden has established several rules and etiquette guidelines for guests and their pets. All dogs must be leashed, be at least four months old, and up to date on vaccinations. It is important to note that dogs in heat will not be permitted on the premises. Additionally, dogs should never be left unattended in vehicles, and owners must collect and dispose of dog waste in designated trash receptacles. The Garden will provide bags for this purpose.
Dog Days has specific areas where dogs are not allowed. Pets are prohibited inside Rock Springs Café, the Rainforest Conservatory, and on trams. All dogs must be well-socialized and display good behavior; aggressive dogs may result in the owner being asked to leave by Garden staff. To preserve the Garden’s horticultural displays, both humans and dogs are required to stay on trails, pathways, and open lawn areas.
Pet owners are responsible for their dogs’ actions. FWBG disclaims any liability for injuries or illnesses that may occur. Guests should approach unknown dogs with caution and should manage interactions between their pets and those without dogs, particularly around children.
As a courtesy to all visitors, FWBG encourages guests to leave the Garden as clean as they found it. This includes picking up all dog treats, waste, bags, and any other items left behind. The Garden staff also recommends that human attendees wear sturdy walking shoes and take sun protection measures while enjoying the event.
Dog Days at FWBG promises to be a memorable experience for both pets and their owners. With a focus on safety, etiquette, and fun, this event provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the bond between humans and their canine companions in a beautiful natural setting.
