The findings reveal that the name Bella tops the list for both male and female dogs, indicating a continuing trend in pet naming. The top ten dog names for 2025, as reported by Chewy, are: Bella, Luna, Daisy, Lucy, Max, Charlie, Bailey, Cooper, Buddy, and Sadie. This data reflects a notable shift from 2024, where Charlie held the title of the most popular male dog name, according to Rover’s 12th annual Top Pet Names Report.
Food-Inspired Names Gain Popularity
In addition to the well-known favorites, Chewy’s report highlights a rise in the popularity of unique dog names, particularly those inspired by food. Names like Cheeto and Pickles saw an increase of approximately 25% since last year, while Brisket surged by an impressive 68%. Other culinary-inspired names gaining traction include Coco Puffs, Mac-n-Cheese, Garbanzo Bean, Spicy Sausage, and Prince Tater Tot. Last year, Rover identified a significant trend in food names, reporting a three-way tie among Calzone, Chive, and Provolone, which all increased by 211% compared to 2023.

Beyond the top ten, pet owners are also opting for more imaginative names. Some of the standout unique names include Penny Lane the Great Dane, Pawpeye, Lilliput, Sub-Zero, Trouble, Lady Beast, and Gandalf the Grey. Names like Milky Way, Mister Moose, CJ (Christmas Joy), Super Duper Cooper, and Hollywood further illustrate the diverse inspirations pet owners draw from.
