Community Mourns the Loss of Ben Bolech Sr. at 97

Ben C. Bolech Sr., a beloved figure in the Victoria community, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on November 28, 1928, in Shiner, Texas, he lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and service to others. Ben is survived by his wife, Marian (Darilek) Bolech, whom he married on September 12, 1950, and their three children: Margaret Rogers, Patricia Boldt (Raymond), and Ben Bolech, Jr.. He also leaves behind three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ben’s early life began in Shiner, where he was born to Charles Frank Bolech and Frances Anna (Veselka) Bolech. After completing high school, he relocated to Victoria, where he spent over four decades in the workforce. He dedicated 33 years to Groce Wearden and subsequently worked for Scrivener Grocery Distribution for another 10 years.

Faith and Community Engagement

For nearly 75 years, Ben was a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. His commitment to his faith was reflected in his active participation in various church organizations, including the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 1329, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Ben found joy in attending mass and serving his church community, activities that were integral to his life.

Outside of his church involvement, Ben cherished spending time at his ranch, tending to his cattle, and enjoying the simplicity of country life. He often gathered with friends over coffee, engaging in discussions about life and its challenges. His interests extended to woodworking and whittling, as well as leisurely drives on back roads, where he appreciated the beauty of nature. Football fans will remember him as a loyal supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.

Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Marian, who he was married to for 62 years, and their daughter, Margaret. His memory lives on through his family and the numerous friendships he cultivated throughout his life.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the doctors and staff at Citizens Hospital and the staff at Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion for their exceptional care during Ben’s final days. In honor of his legacy, memorial donations can be made to the Our Lady of Lourdes Holy Name Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
