Community Mourns the Passing of Thomassine Meagher Neubauer

Thomassine Meagher Neubauer, affectionately known as Tommi, passed away on December 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and community spirit. Born on May 9, 1945, in San Anselmo, California, Tommi dedicated her life to family, friendships, and service in her local community.

Tommi was the third child of Clifford and Thomassine Meagher. She grew up in a nurturing environment in San Anselmo and attended Marin Catholic High School. Her academic journey culminated in a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Sonoma State University. After marrying Patrick Philip Donlan of San Rafael, the couple settled in Novato, California, following Patrick’s service in Vietnam. Together, they welcomed two children, Patrick Donlan and Kathleen Donlan, who also grew up in Novato.

In the early 1980s, after her marriage to Patrick ended, Tommi found love again with Wayne Neubauer of Sleepy Hollow, California. This union brought a new family dynamic as Tommi became a stepmother to Richard Neubauer. Tommi’s passion for animals was evident as she shared her home with a variety of pets, including dogs and cats, which became part of her vibrant household.

Throughout her life, Tommi cultivated a rich tapestry of friendships and experiences. Her home became a hub for gatherings, hosting camping trips, Super Bowl parties, sushi nights, and houseboating excursions. Annual visits to the Marin County Fair, 4th of July parades, and the Arts and Wine Festival were just a few highlights of her family’s celebrations. Tommi’s warmth and hospitality were felt by all who visited, creating lasting memories and connections.

Tommi’s professional life was equally fulfilling. She spent a significant part of her career at Lu Sutton Elementary School during the early 1980s, where she formed meaningful relationships with students and families. Later, she worked at Harding Lawson Associates and ultimately at Frank Howard Allen in Novato, where she remained until her retirement. Her coworkers often became lifelong friends, and she cherished the camaraderie built during various workplace events.

Tommi’s compassion extended beyond her professional life. In her later years, she lived at the Windsong Senior Living Facility in Sonoma County, where she continued to forge connections with residents and staff. Her kindness and spirit touched many lives, and she will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her children, Patrick and Kathleen Donlan, and Richard Neubauer, along with their partners, Lisa Donlan, Kyle Blount, and LaPriel Hart. Tommi also leaves behind four grandchildren: Sean, Andrew, Rowan, and Finley. The family expresses their deepest gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will take place on March 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.. Those wishing to attend can contact Lisa Donlan at 707-782-2922 for further details. In honor of Tommi’s memory, the family encourages contributions in the form of flowers or the establishment of a living memorial.

Tommi Meagher Neubauer’s legacy will endure through the lives she touched and the memories shared, a testament to a life well-lived.
