James “Jim” Carufel, aged 79, passed away leaving behind a legacy marked by family devotion and professional achievements. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barb, his sister Lorrie, his two sons, Cory (Kristi) and Christopher (Haruko), and his grandchildren, Collette and Cayden. His death is preceded by the loss of his parents, Dorothy and Ben, as well as his sisters, Jeanine and Leanne.
Born with a keen intellect, Jim graduated magna cum laude from St. Thomas and later earned an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. He held various influential roles throughout his career, notably serving as Chief Financial Officer in city management and as Senior Vice President of TPT Public Television. His professional journey showcased his commitment to public service and community improvement.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim had a profound appreciation for nature. He cherished every moment spent at his rustic cabin in the north woods, which he built with his own hands. Jim’s love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his deep commitment to his family. He often expressed that no achievement could compare to the joy he found in their companionship.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on December 3, 2025, from 14:30 to 18:00 at the Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, located at 2195 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury, Minnesota 55125. A private interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.
