Grand Hyatt Kauai Celebrates Halloween with Festive Pumpkin Display

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa marked the Halloween season with a lively two-day celebration, culminating in a vibrant pumpkin carving display on October 31, 2023. The event attracted both resort guests and employees, showcasing a variety of creatively carved pumpkins, each representing different departments of the resort.

Amy Christmas, a longtime vendor associated with the resort, expressed her appreciation for such initiatives. “It’s so nice the resort does something like this for the employees,” she remarked. Although she hadn’t yet seen the pumpkin displays, she noted the festive atmosphere, adding, “Everyone seems to be having a lot of fun.”

Guests were invited to vote for their favorite pumpkin creations during the event, which highlighted the collaborative spirit among the resort’s staff. Employees embraced the Halloween theme, dressing as fairies, butterflies, and superheroes, adding to the joyful ambiance in the resort’s lobby.

In conjunction with the pumpkin display, the festivities included the Howloween Canine Costume contest, held the previous day. This event served as a fundraiser for the Kauai Humane Society and featured a variety of pets competing for prizes. Among the standout contestants was Maile, who impressed judges as a hula dancer with a flowing skirt that danced in the breeze.

Another notable participant, Ruby, was recognized for her creative use of corn starch, earning the title of the scariest costume. The cutest animal award went to Waffles, who charmed the audience with her clever “Chicken and Waffles” ensemble.

The two-day celebration drew a positive response from attendees. Diann Hartman, the marketing and communications director at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, reflected on the success of the events, stating, “These two days have been a lot of fun.” She also hinted at future festivities, including Thanksgiving celebrations and the lighting of the holiday decorations on the day after Thanksgiving.

As the festivities continued, Amy Christmas was spotted playfully chasing after a feather from her red costume. “I’m losing my feathers,” she joked. “I’m a Flamboyant Fortune Teller, and I predict everyone having a perfect day.”

The Grand Hyatt Kauai’s Halloween celebration not only fostered a sense of community among staff and guests but also supported local animal welfare through its fundraising efforts. With more events on the horizon, the resort aims to keep the spirit of celebration alive well into the holiday season.
