HospitalityMaine Celebrates 2025 Award Winners at Annual Summit

HospitalityMaine recognized its award winners for 2025 at its annual summit held on November 17-18 in Rockport. The event celebrated individuals and organizations within the state’s lodging, restaurant, and hospitality sectors, highlighting their contributions to the industry. Among the honored recipients was Chef Gil Pilaster, who earned the title of Chef of the Year for his work at The Causeway Restaurant, located within The Craignair Inn by the Sea in Spruce Head.

During the awards ceremony, Kathleen Pierce, Director of Membership and Communications at HospitalityMaine, praised Pilaster, stating that he has “cooked his way across the state” and brought significant attention to The Causeway since taking the helm in the kitchen. Pilaster was celebrated not only for his culinary skills but also for his dedication to local ingredients and community engagement.

The summit also honored Josh Miranda as Restaurateur of the Year. Miranda is the owner and co-owner of several popular establishments in Portland, including Blyth & Burrows, Off Track Pizza, Papi, and Via Vecchia. Pierce remarked on Miranda’s resilience and creativity, describing his journey as one of “pure Maine grit.” The award recognized not only his business success but also his commitment to fostering a vibrant dining culture in Portland.

Additional Award Winners Recognized for Excellence

The event also acknowledged other notable figures in the hospitality industry. Katie Keene was named Innkeeper of the Year for her exceptional management at The Dunes on the Waterfront in Ogunquit. Cheyenne Wright received the Employee of the Year award for her outstanding service at York Harbor Inn. Additionally, Paper Trails of Kennebunk was awarded Allied Member of the Year, recognizing their contributions to the industry.

Pierce emphasized the significance of these awards, stating, “This recognition is really a hospitality badge of honor for the recipients.” Each award reflects not only individual achievements but also the collective spirit and dedication present within Maine’s hospitality sector.
