His commitment to the community extends beyond journalism; in 2023, he founded the nonprofit organization, Prostate Cancer Maine, to raise awareness about prostate cancer following his own diagnosis. The disease affects approximately 1 in 8 men, and Goldberg has actively participated in fundraising initiatives such as Pints For Prostate, while educating the public through his broadcasts.
