Two local service organizations, the Great Bend Pilot Club and the Noon Lions Club, hosted a festive youth program on December 5, 2023, at the Page Bistro in Great Bend. The event featured a special performance by students from the Holy Family School, showcasing their interpretation of a Christmas story.
Under the guidance of music teacher Ashlee Meyerhoff, over forty fifth- and sixth-grade students presented a vibrant adaptation titled “Isaiah Jones,” inspired by the movie theme of “Indiana Jones.” This creative take intertwines a Biblical narrative with an adventurous quest for the birthplace of Jesus, engaging the audience through a mix of dance, song, and dialogue.
The performance involved two choirs and numerous supporting characters, delivering a high-energy spectacle that captivated all in attendance. Observers noted the children’s exceptional preparation and enthusiasm, which was evident throughout the event. The flawless execution reflected not only the students’ hard work but also Meyerhoff’s infectious energy that inspired them.
Prior to the performance, the students exhibited exemplary behavior, demonstrating their respect and dedication to the occasion. This commitment was further supported by several other women who assisted in the program’s coordination.
Both the Great Bend Pilot Club and the Noon Lions Club expressed their gratitude for the unique and heartwarming gift provided by the students. The collaboration between these organizations and the school highlights the community’s supportive spirit, especially during the festive season.
In conclusion, the event not only celebrated the talents of the youth but also strengthened community ties, bringing together families and local organizations in a joyful celebration of the holiday spirit. Reverend Dr. William Salmon remarked on the significance of such collaborations, emphasizing their positive impact on the community.
